Next time you snap open a fortune cookie, an AI may have written it.

For as long as they've been around, the small pieces of paper with messages have been written by real people.

At one time or another, everyone has thought," Wow, how do they come up with so many messages?"

Well, now ChatGPT could take over some of the workload.

Accordion to the Wall Street Journal, OpenFortune, which produces and distributes branded fortune cookies, recently started using AI to develop messages.

A statement from Openfortune gave an example of a recent message ChatGPT generated.

"A harmonious melody will soon drift into your world, guiding you to dance with destiny," and "You will experience a serendipitous moment that will bring you closer to a long-held dream."

The messages are vague and don't make much sense, which is exactly how the notes usually sound.

The company says that although AI is now responsible for writing the fortunes, they have retained their writers, whose job is to write prompts.

Prompts are the instructions given to the AI, so it knows what you're looking for.

Such as "Write a small message about the importance of chasing your dreams."
