Fire crew tackled a blaze that engulfed a garage on County Road 90 just west of George Johnston Road Sunday morning.

Springwater Deputy Fire Chief Jeff French says the call came in around 9, and both them and Barrie Fire were dispatched.

He says Barrie firefighters first arrived at the scene where a detached garage fire had already spread to the parked vehicle in the driveway.

According to French, crews started a defensive attack working to protect the house until additional tankers arrived scene as there were no hydrants in the area.

Two additional tankers from Essa Fire came to assist with water shuttle.

French says it took approximately 45 minutes to get the fire under control.

There were no injuries to occupants or firefighters.

He added that the fire is not considered suspicious, and due to the severe damage, the cause is undetermined - total damage is $150,000.00.
