Golden Globes Nominees announced in spite of awards controversy

Nominations for the 2022 Golden Globes have been announced amid controversy.

NBC, the long-time broadcaster of the awards, announced they would not air the show, slated for January 9.

Last year, many in Hollywood spoke out about the lack of diversity in the Hollywood Foreign Press, a group of journalists who vote on the awards. Out of its 87 members, there are no black members. There have also been reports of unethical behaviour in the organization.

Regardless of the turmoil surrounding the HFPA, the group went ahead with nominations on Monday.

HBO's "Succession" and Apple TV's "The Morning Show" received the most nominations among television shows. "Power of the Dog' and 'Belfast' leads the film nominations."

A new class of Canada's greatest are being inducted into the walk of fame.

It includes the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be, Bret "The Hitman" Hart.

From Calgary, Alberta, Hart is known for his wrestling career spanning 23 years.

This year's class also includes Keanu Reeves and Graham Greene. Musician Bruce Cockburn, and singer-songwriter Jully Black.

A team of scientists at the University of Toronto, Frederick Banting, Charles Best, John Macleod, and James Collip, who discovered insulin will be inducted.

The televised special, "Celebrating Greatness: Canada's Walk of Fame," will air Friday night.

Dr. Oz Show Cancelled

The Dr. Oz Show will be pulled off the air next month after 13 seasons.

Last month the host of the long-running show. Dr. Mehmet Oz announced his plans to run for Senate in Pennsylvania.

Sony Pictures says the time slot will still be kept in the family. “The Good Dish” hosted by Dr. Oz’s daughter Daphne will take its place. It's described as a cross between a cooking show and a talk show.

It premieres on January 17.
