Provincial police are praising the action of a Good Samaritan after a two-year-old child wandered away from family and entered the water at Stewart Lake Beach in Georgian Bay Township.

OPP say they were dispatched to a possible drowning around 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 23.

The boy was quickly located by a caregiver, though unresponsive. The family called for help and police say the quick action of a nearby Good Samaritan who was familiar with CPR was successful in reviving the youngster.

The child was transported to a local hospital and soon released in good health.
