Two Good Samaritans are being credited with aiding Barrie police after a donation box was stolen just before 10 Friday morning at the Walmart on Bayfield Street.
Barrie Police Corporate Communications Coordinator Peter Leon tells Barrie 360 it's believed the two men followed the suspect to the area of Bayfield Street and Livingstone Street, where they confronted the accused.
Leon says when officers arrived on scene in under a minute, a woman was allegedly assaulting one of the Good Samaritans.
Police apprehended two people, a 36-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman, both of no fixed address.
The man was charged with theft, and the woman was written up for assault.
Neither of the Good Samaritans was injured.
