An innocent mistake has led to a long-standing Thanksgiving tradition for one American family.

For the 7th year in a row, Jamal Hinton will celebrate American Thanksgiving with Wanda Dench, a woman he never met until a case of mistaken identity.

In 2016, Dench, an Arizona Grandmother, texted her 24-year-old grandson inviting him to Thanksgiving dinner.

She accidentally sent the message to 17-year-old Jamal Hinton. After some confusion, Hinton asked if he could still come over for dinner.

She replied, "Of course you can. That's what grandmas do … feed everyone."

Now, every year, Hinton joins her and her family for Thanksgiving.

The two have formed a sweet friendship, not exclusive to Thanksgiving. They regularly get together throughout the year and communicate regularly.

The story has been so loved that there's currently a movie in development for Netflix.
