Loaded gun, drugs seized during traffic stop: Barrie Police

Two men from Bradford, one from Barrie face charges

Three men face drug trafficking and weapons charges after Barrie Police stopped a vehicle downtown at Dunlop Street East and Mulcaster Street early Saturday.

The vehicle was pulled over for a Highway Traffic Act offence, but based on observations made by officers, they launched a drug investigation.

"Three males in the vehicle were removed and when the car was searched, a quantity of suspected fentanyl, cocaine and Canadian currency was seized along with a fully loaded semi-automatic firearm that had a high-capacity magazine," police stated in a news release on Tuesday.

Police charged a 21-year-old from Bradford and two 23-year-olds from Barrie and Bradford.

Both suspects from Bradford were held in custody and remanded pending a future bail hearing. The Barrie suspect was released from custody on an undertaking and is slated to appear in court at the end of August.
