Reports of gunshot heard leads to charges in Huntsville

One person suffered minor injuries and received treatment at a local hospital and was released

OPP say they responded to reports of a dispute between two individuals on Monday in Huntsville in which a gunshot was reportedly heard.

Around 2:20 p.m., officers attended to the incident on South Lancelot Road, and continued a heavy presence into the evening.

The OPP resources were local Huntsville detachment officers, Huntsville Detachment Crime Unit, Central Region OPP Caine, Central Region OPP Emergency Response Team, OPP Aviation (Helicopter) and OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit.   

As a result of the dispute, one person suffered minor injuries and received treatment at a local hospital and was subsequently released. 

OPP say they do not believe that there is risk to public safety. The investigation is ongoing and police are currently on scene.

According to officers, a 42-year-old person has been charged with possession of a schedule one substance.

The person is being held in custody and scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

Police say the suspect and victim's identities will be withheld to protect the victim's identity.

They add that more information will be released when available.
