Harrison Ford has a Peruvian snake named after him, now know as Tachymenoides harrisonfordi.

The actor is vice chair of the non-profit group Conservation International, and the reptile's name is meant to honour his environmental advocacy.

Having a snake named after him is humourous, considering his Indiana Jones character famously hated snakes.

This is the third animal he has named after him, including an Ant (Pheidole harrisonfordi) and a spider (Pheidole harrisonfordi)

In an interview with Conservation International, he said "These scientists keep naming critters after me, but it's always the ones that terrify children. I don't understand. I spend my free time cross-stitching. I sing lullabies to my basil plants, so they won't fear the night."

He adds "In all seriousness, this discovery is humbling. It's a reminder that there's still so much to learn about our wild world — and that humans are one small part of an impossibly vast biosphere."
