Harry And Meghan To Step Back As ‘Senior Members’ Of The Royal Family

Royal couple will split their time between the UK and North America

A major shake up at Buckingham Palace, where Prince Harry and his wife Meghan have announced on Instagram that they are stepping back from their roles as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family while working to become “financially independent.”

“We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages,” the post read.

The couple said they intend to carve out “a progressive new role” within the institution.

The royals also said the move would be beneficial for their eight-month-old son Archie.

This might not come as a surprise to everyone. Harry and Meghan did not spend the Christmas holidays with the other royals. Instead, they chose to Canada to celebrate the season, with time spent in British Columbia.

Canada is hardly an unknown to either royal. Meghan spent seven years in Toronto while filming the TV show “Suits.”
