Henry Cavill is out as Superman.
The new co-head of DC studios, James Gunn, announced that he is overhauling the Superman role by focusing on an earlier part of Superman's life.
That means Cavill won't return to the role he's had for nearly a decade.
It disappoints fans who were excited to see Cavill make a cameo in "Black Adam."
Shortly after the movie premiered in October, Cavill announced he would return as Superman for a new film.
That's now changed since famed director James Gunn jumped ship from Marvel to DC.
On Twitter Gunn announced, "Peter Safran & I have a DC slate ready to go, which we couldn't be more over-the-moon about; we'll be able to share some exciting information about our first projects at the beginning of the new year.
"Among those on the slate is Superman. In the initial stages, our story will be focusing on an earlier part of Superman's life, so the character will not be played by Henry Cavill."
He went on to say, "But we just had a great meeting with Henry, and we're big fans, and we talked about several exciting possibilities to work together in the future."
Cavill was obviously disappointed by the news, but posted on social media that he respects the new direction the story is going and thanked fans for the support.
Cavill first appeared as Superman, "Man of Steel," in 2013.
Last week it was announced that the Wonder Woman and Black Adam sequels would not happen.
