Tractor-trailer driver charged with impaired after HWY 400 crash

A tractor-trailer driver is up on impaired charges following a crash on Highway 400 in Springwater Township Monday night.

Just before 10:00 p.m., Orillia OPP responded to reports of the collision involving two vehicles, one being the tractor-trailer, near Penetanguishene Road.

"Officers attended the scene and spoke with everyone involved in the collision," OPP said in a release. "After speaking with the driver of the tractor-trailer, officers entered an impaired operation driving investigation."

A 32-year-old Angus man faces the following charges:

  • Operation while impaired- alcohol contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the CCC
  • Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the CCC

Police say he was released on an undertaking with a future court date.

Highway 400 was partially closed but has since reopened.
