Holiday Inn scrapping tiny shampoo bottles

Cutting back on plastic waste

Admit it!

You love stealing those tiny shampoos from hotels.

But the Holiday Inn and InterContental Hotels chain (IHG) is about to ruin the fun.

It has announced it’s ditching the tiny bottles in an effort to help save the oceans from all that unnecessary plastic waste.

Instead, its nearly 843,000 rooms will switch to bulk dispensers, refillable bottles and ceramic containers for all bathroom products.

“Switching to larger-size amenities across more than 5,600 hotels around the world is a big step in the right direction and will allow us to significantly reduce our waste footprint and environmental impact as we make the change.”

– InterContinental Hotels Group CEO Keith Barr

IHG says it’ll save about 200-million tiny bottles every year.

About a third of the chain’s properties have already made the switch. IHG hopes to complete the transition by 2021.
