Suspects sought in reported home invasion in Essa Township

Two suspects, both believed to be male, are being sought by provincial police in a reported home invasion in Essa Township.

Around noon on Tuesday, OPP said officers were dispatched to a residence on the 9th Line near Pineview Trail for a home invasion in progress. By the time police got to the scene, the suspects had fled.

Police said the suspects forced their way into the residence and searched through the house prior to fleeing.

The suspects are descibed as between 5'5 - 5'10" feet tall, dressed all in black with ski mask and goggles. A black jacket worn by one of the individuals had a fur hood, police added.

It's possible, said police, that the culprits fled the scene in a grey or black sedan.

"Police have no further description for the male suspects at this time and are encouraging residents to review their camera footage or dash cam for any suspicious activity that may be helpful in this investigation between 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., on Tuesday January 6, 2026," OPP stated in a news releaase.

Investigators believe this was a targeted incident and do not consider there to be a risk to public safety.
