Several individuals were piling items against a fence on Bradford Street near Simcoe Street Thursday afternoon, which Barrie police said belonged to residents of an encampment after the property owner asked that the encampment be removed.
Police told Barrie 360 that the property owners asked for the removal of the encampment and officers were there to monitor the situation, adding that since the order came down they have not had any issues with the residents.
There were three police cruisers parked on the property.
One of the residents told Barrie 360 they had been offered shelter from one of the service agencies but she did not disclose which one.
Several service agencies were on site earlier offering assistance to those living in the encampment.
The small encampment is in an open field across the road from 80 Bradford Street.
