OPP seize homemade gun from teen on Highway 400

A teenager is facing numerous weapons and firearms offences after the Ontario Provincial Police's Highway Enforcement Team seized a loaded homemade gun during a traffic stop early Monday on Highway 400 southbound, south of Highway 9, in King Township.

The weapon, also known as ghost gun, was located along with an extended magazine and an undisclosed amount of cash, according to a police news release on Tuesday.

Ghost guns are firearms without serial numbers that are assembled from individual parts or 3D printers.

A 19-year-old man from Toronto has been charged with 10 firearms/weapons offences and failure to comply with a release order.

He was held in custody and is to appear in court in Newmarket.
