Honda of Canada has celebrated a week of giving which included adopting families in the community, hosting a food drive and helping a toy drive.
Celebrating 50 years in Canada, Honda associates pledged to adopt 50 families in the community. Through their generosity, 58 families were adopted – including 26 from Simcoe Muskoka Family Connexions, 17 from Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre and 15 from Senior Wish Association.
“Seeing the overwhelming support for adopt-a-family has been truly inspiring,” said Tom Lake, Executive Vice President, Honda of Canada Mfg. “Watching our associates present gifts to Simcoe Muskoka Family Connexions, Senior Wish, and the RVH Foundation really brought to life what this season is about – giving back in our community.”
“There are many children who require ongoing care in RVH’s maternal child and newborn clinics and as we spend a lot of time with them and their families, we understand how challenging this time of year can be for them,” says Rhea Taplin, Manager of Child and Youth Ambulatory Care and Adult Surgical Ambulatory Care. “Having a child struggle with health issues can be extremely difficult for many reasons and our team knows the gifts will be greatly appreciated and bring many smiles to our young patients and their families. We are overwhelmed by the generosity of the associates at Honda – their kindness is a wonderful gift.”
In addition to adopting families in the community, Honda associates donated 3,409 lbs. of food to the Barrie Food Bank which were collected at their annual Kids’ Christmas Party. This was followed up with a donation of more than $14,000 worth of toys to the Rock 95/KOOL FM Toy Drive.
