House fire in south Barrie

The fire is believed to have started in the garage

Barrie fire crews have been battling a house fire in the city's south end on Thursday afternoon.

Firefighters were called out to the Kingsridge Road address at the corner of Hurst Drive just before 1:30.

Deputy Fire Chief Ed Davis tells Barrie 360 it appears the fire started in the garage. He said two vehicles in the driveway were damaged and are likely write-offs. The fire also made its way into the attic of the home.

Davis adds that a family of four, a cleaner, and a pet were able to get outside safely.

There is no damage total available, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
