House sales in Barrie held steady in January; prices fell

Sales soar, prices rise slightly just outside the city

Housing sales in Barrie flatlined from December to January.

The Barrie and District Association of Realtors says 103 units were sold in January – about the same as December. The average price was $452,518 – 2.5 percent less than in December.

While there is some decline in the average price of freehold/detached homes, there was a large increase in the number of sales and the average price of apartment units sold.

In Simcoe County, outside of Barrie, 128 units were sold in January – a 33.3 per cent increase over. The average price of homes outside of Barrie was $493,449 – 1.3 percent higher than in December.
