Are you a hugger? A local Newmarket group is counting on it.
Hugs4Hope plans to beat the Guinness World Record for most hugs by a team of 8 people in an hour.
For this to happen they need at least 400 people in order to complete the more the 2,450 hugs to break the record.
Volunteer Nancy Bodie, says they have to be complete hugs, and you can only hug one person once, no double dipping.
Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy food, fun and entertainment. And of course, a hug or two.
Bodie says the event is also to raise awareness and funds for pair of charities.
The Newmarket-based YouthSpeak Performance Charity has a team of more than 20 youth speakers, who share their personal stories about mental health, bullying and addiction to help other young people.
Global Strides Charity, is an organization raising funds to help educate children living in an orphanage in Kianyaga, Kenya.
Bodie says that huggers do not have to make a donation to participate.
