Barrie Police say skeletal remains that were discovered on August 13 in the area of Anne Street South and Tiffin Street have been identified as one of the victims of a 2025 double homicide.
After they were soon sent to the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto for identification, the remains were confirmed to be from 45-year-old William 'Blake' Robinson, who was killed along with 41-year-old David Cheesequay.
Yellow police tape stretches alongside a field on the north side of Tiffin Street and the east side of Anne Street South. There is also access to a wooded area from the field with homes backing onto it from Innisfil Street, and Dyment Creek runs through the property.
The Barrie Police Major Crime Unit has been leading the investigation.
Last summer, a man linked to the case was arrested in Midland in a joint effort with Barrie Police and OPP. He is facing a total of 33 criminal charges including first and second degree murder, indignity to a dead body, and multiple counts of drug possession.
In a press conference last year, investigators revealed that the suspect had already been known to police and that the men had lived together in an encampment on Anne Street South between Brock and John streets.
The suspect remains in custody.
Police had said they were treating the August discovery of the remains as a separate incident, noting the location is not far from the former homeless encampment where the murders had taken place.
