A Festive RIDE check wasn't so festive for one Huntsville man, who was arrested for alleged impaired driving Wednesday in Huntsville.
The check occurred at 9:45 a.m. on the morning of Christmas Eve, and OPP say the driver, the lone occupant of the vehicle, gave them reason to believe he was impaired.
Subsequently, the 31-year-old man from Huntsville was arrested and booked on two charges relating to impaired operation of his vehicle.
He was further issued a 90-day driver's licence suspension and the vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
The man was released and is set to appear in a Bracebridge court in January.
"This event could have easily been avoided had the driver planned ahead before consuming alcohol or drugs," Huntsville OPP said in a news release. "Don't include alcohol or drugs in any plans to drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another option that takes driving out of the picture altogether."
