Huntsville man faces numerous charges after fail-to-remain crash

OPP say the driver had been involved in an earlier altercation

A 30-year-old Huntsville man is facing multiple charges after leaving the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Highway 11.

On Friday around 8:45 p.m., Huntsville OPP responded to a vehicle in the ditch north of Highway 60, where witnesses reported the driver fled on foot. Police located the driver and he was taken into custody.

OPP say the driver had been involved in an earlier altercation, leading to additional charges.

He was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration 80 plus
  • Dangerous operation
  • Assault with a weapon - two counts
  • Assault
  • Uttering threats to cause death or serious bodily harm
  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Fail to remain at the scene of a collision
  • Drive while under suspension

The accused was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody.
