A man was arrested by Huntsville OPP following a report of an assault against a woman on Thursday morning.

At about 11:10 a.m., police responded to a report of an assault in progress around the intersection of Main Street East and Kitchen Road South.

Police say when officers arrived, they found and arrested the man who had assaulted the women whom he didn't know.

As a result, the 36-year-old man was charged with assault, causing a disturbance, and failure to comply with a probation order.

He was set for a bail hearing and remains in custody. A court date is scheduled for Thursday in Bracebridge.
