COVID-19 testing will be available in sixty pharmacies across Ontario including in Huntsville.
Premier Doug Ford and Health Minister Christine Elliott announced expanded testing at the Shoppers’ Drug Mart on King St. in Huntsville on Wednesday afternoon, saying the move will help take the heat off existing assessment centres.
The Huntsville location is the only one within the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit’s catchment area. The majority of these pharmacies rest within the province’s three hot spots Toronto, Ottawa, and Peel Region. These facilities will be up and running by Friday.
“As part of our plan to ensure that we are ready for future waves of COVID-19, our government is working with pharmacies to help expand testing for Ontarians,” said Minister Elliott. “With a recent increase in the number of cases, we are making sure people have more options for testing to identify cases of COVID-19 early. We must not let our guard down.”
Additionally, Queen’s Park says less invasive saliva testing will be offered at Women’s College, Mount Siani, and University Health Network in Toronto, starting this week.
