Huntsville OPP have charged two after a vehicle went into a snowbank in Huntsville on Thursday morning, believing impairment to have been a factor.

At 8:59 a.m., officers were notified about a vehicle partially stuck in a snowbank on King William Street.

When police and Muskoka EMS arrived, they found the two occupants to be alright medically, but officers realized the male driver was impaired.

Subsequently, the 46-year-old man was arrested and charged with impaired driving, possession of Schedule 1 and Schedule 3 substances, and driving with liquor readily available.

His passenger, a 45-year-old from Bracebridge, was also arrested, charged with possession of a Schedule 3 substance.

Both were eventually released and are to appear in court in March in Bracebridge.

The driver was also issued a 90-day license suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

"This event could have easily been avoided had the driver planned ahead before consuming alcohol or drugs," Huntsville OPP concluded in a news release.
