Hurst Drive Getting More than a Facelift

Roadway Deterioration Requires Full Reconstruction

The reconstruction of Hurst Drive begins today.

Bouncin’ down Hurst Drive

A section of Hurst between Cox Mill and Golden Meadow has deteriorated to the point where it requires a complete overhaul. That involves the removal and replacement of the asphalt and granular base material under the tarmac. The damage here considered much more significant than that of Hurst between Golden Meadow and Big Bay Point, which underwent basic resurfacing back in 2017.

The project gets underway today. It involves improving the drainage on Hurst, new pedestrian ramps, and extended concrete bus pads once all is said and done. Bus routes will be detoured throughout construction.

The Barrie roadway is expected to be closed from Cox Mill Road to Golden Meadow Road for the duration of the project.
