Ontario Provincial Police officers stepped in to help an injured dog Saturday evening after it appeared at a rural property with extensive porcupine quill injuries.
A resident on Vasey Road reported that a Husky had wandered onto their property in visible distress. The dog’s face was covered in quills, and the individual caring for it told police they did not have the financial ability to obtain emergency veterinary treatment.
After responding to the scene, officers consulted with animal control and took the dog into protective custody to ensure it received immediate medical attention.
The Husky was transported to a 24‑hour emergency veterinary clinic in Barrie, where it was treated for its injuries.
Animal welfare officials were notified following the incident and became involved in the dog’s ongoing care. The animal has since received the necessary treatment and is in the process of being re-homed.
