Collisions result in impaired arrests in North Simcoe

In one case, there was debris on the road but no motorist

Two motorists are facing impaired driving charges in separate crashes.

Southern Georgian Bay OPP was contacted by a member of the public on Saturday around 3:20 a.m. who reported debris on the road which looked to be the result of a collision, but there was no vehicle at that location.

This was on Concession Road 16 East and Methodist Point Road in Tiny Township.

Officers patrolled the area and found a truck with fresh damage and the driver hunched over the wheel who appeared to be sleeping.

Police woke up the driver and spoke with him, noting strong signs of impairment.

A 31-year-old Tiny Township man was arrested and charged.

Then around 8 p.m. on Saturday, a vehicle left the road and slammed into a tree on Golf Course Road in Georgian Bay Township.

Officers located the driver who failed a roadside screening test.

A 36-year-old Port Severn man was charged.

The driver’s licences of both motorists have been suspended for 90 days and their vehicles have been impounded for a week.
