Huronia West OPP say two people have been charged for impaired driving in New Lowell on Saturday morning.

Around 2 a.m., an officer entered into an impaired driving investigation when he stopped a vehicle on County Road 9.

Police say the driver was issued a 3-day licence suspension, and a ticket for open alcohol.

According to OPP, the driver called a friend for a ride. When that second party arrived, the officer suspected that he too was under the influence of alcohol.

The second driver was arrested for impaired driving.

His driver's license was suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle impounded for seven days.

Police say this was the 4th drug and alcohol-related driving offence of the evening.

If you suspect an impaired driver, call 9-1-1.
