A motorist learned the grass is never greener when attempting to drive a pickup truck across the lawn of a police station.
"On November 16, 2024, at about 9:30 pm, members of the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police(OPP) while on patrol, were passing the Highway 12 office, when they observed a full-size pickup truck attempting to negotiate a route from a nearby hotel, across the lawns of the detachment as well as the neighboring car dealership," OPP said in a news release on Sunday.
The officers stopped the vehicle and spoke with the lone occupant who they said displayed strong signs of alcohol consumption.
The driver was arrested and ushered inside the detachment to provide a breath sample.
The drive blew several times above the legal limit, police said.
A 31-year-old man from Parry Sound District was charged with several Highway Traffic Act offences as well as the following:
- Operation While Impaired
- Operation Over 80 Milligrams
The man's truck was impounded for seven days, and his driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days.
