Driver charged with impaired after striking hydro pole: Barrie police

A 25-year-old Toronto man has been charged with impaired driving after a vehicle slammed into a hydro pole on Bayfield Street south of Grove Street in Barrie.

Police say the collision happened around 1:15 a.m. on Monday.

The driver was not injured.

The impact snapped the pole, which required police to close Bayfield Street between Grove and Wellington Streets so Alectra crews could make repairs.

Bayfield re-opened in both directions shortly after 1 p.m.
