Provincial police have charged a 16-year-old after officers launched an impaired driving investigation when a vehicle was pulled over around 3:00 a.m. Saturday on Highway 11 South near Cedar Lane in the Bracebridge area

According to police, the teen driver from Bracebridge was charged with failure or refusal to comply with a demand.

The passenger, an 18-year-old Burks Falls man, was charged with consuming alcohol under the age of 19.

"A criminal charge of refusal or failure to comply with a demand about an impaired driving investigation carries the same consequences as an impaired driving/over 80 charge in the province of Ontario," police said in a news release.

The accused driver had their license suspended for 90 days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

They have court dates in early April.
