Innisfil man facing nearly two dozen charges connected to multiple thefts

South Simcoe Police - SNOW

An Innisfil man is up on 23 charges following multiple thefts that began in early December.

On Dec. 9, 2023, South Simcoe Police say a U-Haul truck was stolen from the lot of an auto shop in Owen Sound. The male suspect is alleged to have broken into two other vehicles and stolen numerous power tools.

The next day, the stolen U-Haul was found in a parking lot on Innisfil Beach Road near the 20th Sideroad in Innisfil. Police were alerted about the truck and began an investigation which led to the identification of a suspect.

On Jan. 20, 2024, an officer on patrol located a second stolen U-Haul parked in the same area where the first U-Haul was found. An investigation revealed the second U-Haul had been stolen from an address in the area of Yonge Street and the 10th Line in Innisfil.

Last Thursday, a 52-year-old was charged with numerous offences, including motor vehicle theft, possession of property obtained by crime, mischief, and operation while prohibited.

The accused was held for a bail hearing.
