A heavy foot through an active construction zone has landed an Innisfil driver with a hefty penalty.

On Monday, South Simcoe Police (SSP) say officers clocked a vehicle travelling 115 km/h in a posted 60 km/h construction zone on Innisfil Beach Road between Yonge Street and 10th Sideroad in Innisfil.

A 39-year-old woman was charged with stunt driving and failing to surrender a motor vehicle permit.

Her driver's licence was suspended for 30 days, the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

"Construction zones are in place to protect the people working to improve our roads. Slow down, obey posted speed limits, and help keep everyone safe," SSP posted on social media.
