Innisfil Fire performs ice rescue on Lake Simcoe

Mild temperatures and strong winds create dangerous ice conditions

Describing ice conditions on Lake Simcoe as dangerous almost seems like an understatement.

A combination of strong winds and mild temperatures the past few days has opened up and shifted the ice.

Innisfil Fire used its rescue airboat to pluck three people to safety who had been ice fishing on Lake Simcoe Friday afternoon. They got stuck on a chuck of ice that broke up and drifted.
