Weapons call results in charges against an Innisfil man

Police say impaired man showed up at neighbour's house armed with a handgun

South Simcoe Police were called to an Innisfil home around 11 p.m. Saturday about a man armed with a handgun who attended a neighbour’s residence and wanted to enter. This was in the area of Innisfil Beach Road and 25 Sideroad.

Police say the man was drunk and people at the house were able to take the gun from him. Before he left the property, he said he had more weapons at his house.

The man’s home was contained by police and he was arrested without incident with the assistance of the K9 unit. Due to the nature of the occurrence, police seized the remaining firearms in the house which were legally owned.

A 44-year-old Innisfil man was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, careless use of a firearm and failure to surrender authorization.
