South Simcoe Police - SNOW

The South Simcoe Police Service says an Innisfil man faces assault charges after a furnace technician "was struck with a blunt object in an unprovoked attack."

On Tuesday, December 13, just before 9:00 a.m., officers responded to a report of an assault at a home in the Innisfil Beach Road and Webster Boulevard area.

Police say a technician was attempting to service the furnace when he was struck with the object by a resident of the home.

According to police, multiple officers were assaulted during the arrest.

The technician was treated in hospital for minor injuries, and police say the officers suffered minor injuries.

Police say the 26-year-old was charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, resisting arrest, and five counts of assaulting a peace officer.

He was held for a bail hearing.
