
The Innisfil Recreational Complex (IRC), which includes the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka, will remain closed for the rest of the week, according to the Town of Innisfil, following Monday's rooftop fire.
The town says damage must be assessed and repairs made.
All programs and bookings have been cancelled until further notice.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Deputy Fire Chief Carla MacDonald told Barrie 360 in an email that reports the fire was in an air conditioning unit were false.

The Innisfil Recreation Complex will remain closed until a safety assessment has been completed.

The Innisfil Recreation Complex (ICR), which also houses the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka, was evacuated after a rooftop fire around 1:30 on Monday afternoon.
There is an unconfirmed report the fire started in an air conditioning unit.
Town officials say there were no injuries.

“We’re grateful for the quick actions of staff who evacuated the building and for our crews who responded so rapidly to contain the fire,” said Carla MacDonald, Deputy Fire Chief.
The ICR will remain closed until a safety assessment is completed.
All registered and drop-in programs have been cancelled for the day.
