Innisfil seeking feedback on Land & Lake plan

The plans will guide the land-based and water-oriented recreation services provided by the town over the next 30 years

News release from the Town of Innisfil

The Town of Innisfil is requesting public feedback on its draft Parks & Recreation Update and Lake Simcoe Enjoyment Strategy, also known as the Land & Lake Plan. Community members are invited to review a virtual presentation on the plan and share their questions and comments before May 12, 2023.

“We know access to parks and recreation opportunities is essential to enhancing the quality of life for our residents and visitors,” says Mayor Lynn Dollin. “Our community’s input will help to finalize the plan and ensure we have built a great strategy for managing our parks, waterfront and recreation programs moving forward. We are committed to providing everyone in Innisfil with a variety of accessible options for physical activity, social interaction, and connection with nature.”

The Land & Lake Plan comprises two complementary long-term plans, including an update of the 2016 Active Innisfil Parks & Recreation Master Plan and a new Lake Simcoe Enjoyment Strategy. Developed with significant feedback from the community, the plans will guide the land-based and water-oriented recreation services provided by the Town over the next 30 years. The goal is to promote the use and enjoyment of Innisfil’s parks and recreational areas, while setting a vision for the future of these spaces.

Specific aspects of the plan include goals and objectives for:

  • New parks within neighbourhoods
  • Improvements to current parks and trails
  • Better lake access
  • Recreation services, programs, and events
  • Enhancements to activities within our parks

Community members can learn more about the Land & Lake Plan by watching a short 20-minute video covering the plan’s key components. This virtual presentation, along with the full draft plan, is available to view at getinvolvedinnisfil.ca/landlake. Any comments or questions may be posted directly to the project page and will be used to inform the final recommendations included in the plan.

The Land & Lake Plan is expected to go before Innisfil Council for approval in August 2023.
