The Town of Innisfil is declaring a Significant Weather Event in response to hazardous winter weather that has resulted in slippery conditions and challenging travel throughout the region. The declaration will remain in effect until further notice.

Residents are encouraged to postpone non-essential travel until conditions improve. If travel is necessary and visibility becomes reduced, drivers are reminded to slow down, watch for taillights ahead, and be prepared to stop.

During a Significant Weather Event, Innisfil’s winter services do not change. However, residents can expect winter clearing operations to take longer to complete, with a continued focus on primary roads followed by secondary routes.

Declaring a Significant Weather Event under Ontario’s Minimum Maintenance Standards for Municipal Highways temporarily suspends the standard timelines required for municipalities to meet certain maintenance objectives.

The Town reminds community members that overnight parking restrictions are in place on Innisfil’s roads between midnight and 7 a.m. to support winter operations. Consider lending a helping hand to neighbours who may have difficulty shovelling snow or leaving the house due to snow or ice. Patience is appreciated as snowplow crews work to ensure roads and sidewalks are serviced as safely and efficiently as possible.
