Investigation into fatal south end Barrie fire continues as police confirm victim’s identity

Police indicate victim of fatal fire was somehow unable to leave the home

Barrie Polic and the Fire Marshal’s Office continue to probe a fatal fire in the south of Barrie last weekend.

Firefighters were called to a structure fire on Shadowood Road, in the area of Essa Road and Veterans Drive, just before 10 p.m. Saturday, arriving to find a unit within the multiplex ablaze.

Following the fire, a body was located. Barrie Police have confirmed they were the remains of 48-year-old Frederick Temple.

Police tape could be seen outside the Shadowood Road home over the weekend

Barrie Police spokesperson Peter Leon says there are indications the victim was somehow unable to leave the residence during the fire, adding the results of an autopsy earlier this week are under further scrutiny.
