Another local baseball product will be playing games at Christie Pits.
Jaxen Lehr, a right-handed pitcher from Angus, signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old reliever will enter his rookie year in the CBL after finishing his collegiate career in 2025 at Genessee Community College, an NJCAA Division III school in New York.
There, he pitched in 12 games out of the bullpen to a 9.00 ERA over 29 innings while accumulating 21 strikeouts.
Before Genessee, Lehr spent two years at Salem, an NCAA Division II program. He made just four relief appearances between 2023 and 2024.
Lehr is the second offseason player signing by the Maple Leafs, along with fellow right-handed reliever Emmanuel De La Rosa. The signings come after the team posted the worst relievers' ERA in the CBL in 2026 (12.07).
