Jimmy Kimmel releases Top Gun promo to announce he’s hosting the Oscars

The academy awards return next month, and Jimmy Kimmel returns as host because they didn’t have anyone else to do it.
The comedian and talk show host announced the news in a video spoofing “Top Gun:Maverick.”
John Hamm and Charles Parnell return in their Top Gun roles, recruiting Kimmel to entertain a bunch of nervous celebrities for three hours.
They make sure Kimmel knows he was their last choice of hosts after everybody, even Steve Urkel turned them down.
They even asked Chris Rock to come back, but that would be awkward, saying this year’s host has to be “unflappable and unslappable.”
Nine-time host Billy Crystal makes a cameo encouraging Kimmel to take the role for a third time.
The academy awards are on March 12.
