News release - the John Howard Society of Simcoe & Muskoka
The John Howard Society of Simcoe & Muskoka, a local nonprofit agency dedicated to addressing the root causes of homelessness in Simcoe County, is thrilled to announce an ongoing bottle drive initiative that is making a tangible difference in the lives of homeless individuals.
The grassroots effort invites community members to donate their alcohol container deposits, with proceeds going directly toward our various in-reach/outreach programs. One of the many projects that the proceeds will go towards is getting more local supportive transitional housing for individuals who are reintegrating.
“Homelessness is a complex issue that requires a collective effort to address. By participating in this bottle drive, you’re showing that you care and are willing to make a difference,” said Hayley Murdoch-Fyke, Executive Director, John Howard Society of Simcoe and Muskoka.
About the Bottle Drive:
The ongoing bottle drive embodies the spirit of compassion and unity. It’s an opportunity for individuals, businesses, and organizations to come together and create positive change for our homeless neighbours. Homelessness affects everyone, and by contributing to this campaign, you have become part of the solution.
“This is a win-win solution. We can take those annoying deposit containers off your hands and make a difference in our community with the proceeds,” said Chris Williams, Community & Systems Navigator, John Howard Society of Simcoe and Muskoka
Why It Matters:
John Howard Society’s Bottle Drive is not just about recycling; it’s about making a meaningful impact in the lives of homeless individuals in our community. Your simple act of donating your empties provides essential support for basic needs, food programs, and services that help homeless individuals regain stability and independence.
Every bottle and can counts, and together, we can create lasting change.
