The original Karate Kid franchise is coming back!

Details are slim, and no plot details have been announced.

Sony Pictures said that it will be “the return to the original Karate Kid franchise."

The statement is a headscratcher considering we’ve caught up with everyone from the original franchise through the hit television series “Cobra Kai.”

Cobra Kai stars all the original cast members, including Ralph Maccio as Daniel Larusso, William Zabka as Johnny Lawrence, and Martin Kove as Sensei John Kreese.

The original Karate Kid came out in 1984, and four more films followed, including “The Next Karate Kid” starring Hillary Swank.

The film enjoyed a reboot in 2010 with “The Karate Kid, “starring Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith.

Sony says the new film will be out in the summer of 2024, and more details on where this story goes are forthcoming.

For a trip down memory lane, check out the original trailer.
