Simcoe County Warden Presents $2.3m Cheque Supporting Child and Youth Mental Health

The County is continuing its support of RVH, with a multi-million dollar cheque presentation at the hospital today.

County of Simcoe Warden George Cornell presented RVH with a $2.3 million cheque today, the latest installment of its $5.6 million pledge to the Simcoe Muskoka Child and Youth Mental Health Program.

“The County of Simcoe has once again demonstrated tremendous vision and commitment to improving residents’ access to high-quality, specialized healthcare, closer to home. The County’s ongoing contribution continues to strengthen area hospitals and support expanded services, spaces, and technology,” says Janice Skot, RVH president and CEO. “This latest commitment ensures that troubled youth can now receive timely mental health services in RVH’s regional child and youth mental health program, which includes an eight-bed inpatient unit and comprehensive day program.”

The County’s latest investment is part of a 15-year vow to commit $45 million to the Simcoe County Hospital Alliance, supporting hospitals across the county.

“The County of Simcoe recognizes the increasing demand for high-quality, timely, patient-centred care,” says Warden George Cornell. “We are proud of our long tradition of investment in local area hospitals and ultimately enhancing the physical, social and psychological well-being of our residents. There is a growing need for increased access to child and youth mental health services, and our investment today of $2.3 million shows the level of our commitment to delivering the resources and supports our communities need to build brighter futures for all the residents of Simcoe County.”
