Leafs bring back Barrie native Michael Hutchinson on two-way deal

Barrie boy Michael Hutchinson has landed back with Toronto. The Leafs announced Friday that they had signed the veteran netminder to a two-year, two-way contract, with an average annual value of $725,000 at the NHL level.

Hutchinson split the 2019-20 season at the NHL level between the Leafs and the Colorado Avalanche. He posted a 5-9-1 record with a 3.47 GAA and .888 save percetage. He appeared in four playoff games with the Avalanche, going 2-1 with a .910 save percentage.

Hutchinson grew up playing minor hockey for the Barrie Icemen. He spent three years between the pipes for the Barrie Colts before being traded to London where he finished his junior career.
