The Barrie Public Library's Downtown location will be closed to in-person services on Thursday, March 28th to Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024 due to ongoing interior construction projects. But, the library won't leave you hanging!
During this time, patrons can access express services through the Express Pickup Window on Owen Street. This window will be open during the following hours:
- Thursday, March 28th: 9:30 am - 9:00 pm
- Saturday, March 30th: 9:30 am - 5:00 pm
- Tuesday, April 2nd: 9:30 am - 9:00 pm
Please note: Due to the Easter holiday, all Barrie Public Library locations will be closed on Friday, March 29th, Sunday, March 31st, and Monday, April 1st.
At the Express Pickup Window, you can:
- Pick up holds you've placed on books and other materials
- Request new items to borrow
- Print up to 10 pages free of charge
For a faster pick-up experience, the library recommends booking an Express Pick-up appointment. Additionally, returns are accepted 24/7 through the convenient outdoor return slot.
This closure is necessary to address an issue identified with the lobby floor repairs completed in December. "The original vendor will be completing this work at no extra cost," says Chris Vanderkruys, Director of Business and Development. “The City of Barrie has planned the work for this holiday weekend to minimize the impact on our community, as we are already closed for the Easter holiday.”
While the Downtown branch is unavailable, library staff will be busy behind the scenes. They'll be completing additional projects, including maintenance on the rooftop garden and rearranging collections on the main floor to enhance your future library experience.
And, as always, you can still access a wealth of resources through the Barrie Public Library's online services, such as the Digital Library, cloudLibrary, Busy Bundles, and Wireless Printing.
