Local mental health association CEO retiring after 19 years

Board of Directors name new Chief Executive Officer

Some shakeups at the local Canadian Mental Health Association office.

CMHA Simcoe County is bidding a fond farewell to one of its most beloved leaders. Current CEO Nancy Roxborough is heading off into the sunset, retiring after 19 years with the CMHA. “The branch has flourished with Nancy’s vision and guidance,” says Board President Beverly Pearl. “We’re so thankful for her service and wish her well in retirement. She has certainly earned it.”

The Board of Directors has already zeroed in on a replacement for Nancy; Dr. Valerie Grdisa has been named chief executive officer of the local branch, effective March 23rd. Dr. Grdisa has held a number of positions over the past 25 years, including clinician, senior manager, faculty administrator, and senior government official. Dr. Grdisa comes by way of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, bringing with her a commitment to “improving the overall health and wellbeing of individuals and their families living with mental health and addictions.”
